Pretty Southern

So it’s brunch time and I was in Greenpoint. Some friends and I decided to stop into a brand new spot, Pretty Southern, for some noms.

The place is pretty small, just a few tables and counter-space but that’s all you really need to dig in to this Southern style eatery.

Wine and Cocktail Menu

The two month old spot hasn’t gotten their liquor license yet, but they make up for it with some innovative sherry and wine cocktails and a killer wine and beer list. They’ve got a nice sparkling Rosé that I opted for. Super effervescent! The Carlita’s Colada is a really cool take on the Pina Colada. Made with sherry, it’s got a nice tropical taste that’s smooth and creamy.

We waited maybe 20 minutes for all of our food to come and when it did, boy were we excited! Portions are quite large, so come hungry or ready to share.

Maple Bacon, Egg and Cheddar biscuit.

THIS FUCKING BISCUIT THOUGH. OH. MY. GOD. It’s amazing. Truly. The biscuit is fluffy and light, the bacon is crispy as fuck, the cheese is like a goopy cheese sauce that sticks to the eggs and bacon. Omg. I HIGHLY SUGGET ordering some side chicken and adding it to your biscuit. Also gluten free biscuits are available!

Fried Chicken Breast! $6

The fried chicken can come GLUTEN FREE, yes you heard right, and is done up to perfection. The pickles on top give some added spice for you heat seekers out there.

A bevy of sexy legs!

Baked eggs with coconut milk grits and bacon

The baked eggs weren’t exactly what we were looking for. The coconut addition to the grits adds more of a rice pudding taste than we like, but still quite filling.

The menus have quite a lot of gluten free options and the dinner menu is great for those looking to cater small parties or have a group of hungry friends looking to share. Check em out!

Make sure you stop in Pretty Southern off Bedford Ave!  They’re open at Noon-3 and 5:30-11 Monday-Friday and open at 11am for brunch on Saturdays and Sundays.  Be on the look out for their sidewalk cafe coming in late spring! Happy eating!
